Chap Drop is a technology platform that connects people who need to send parcels with independent delivery drivers (primarily bodaboda riders) in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

How it works:

Client books a delivery through the mobile app
Driver accepts the delivery request
Driver picks up the parcel from the sender
Real-time tracking of the delivery
Driver delivers to the recipient with PIN verification
Payment is processed through the platform

Important: Chap Drop is a technology platform, not a delivery company. We connect clients with independent drivers.

Currently, Chap Drop operates primarily in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Our services are focused on urban delivery within the Dar Es Salaam metropolitan area.

We may expand to other regions in the future. Check our app or website for the most current service areas.

Chap Drop primarily uses bodaboda (motorcycles) for deliveries. This allows for:

Faster delivery through traffic congestion
Lower delivery costs
Access to areas that larger vehicles cannot reach
Efficient last-mile delivery

All drivers must have valid Tanzanian driving licenses, vehicle documentation, and insurance as required by law.

Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to use Chap Drop services, either as a client or as a driver.

By using our platform, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into agreements in Tanzania.

Search for "Chap Drop" in your device's app store. Ensure you download the official Chap Drop app published by our company.

For Clients (Senders)

Booking a delivery is simple through our mobile app:

Open the Chap Drop app and log in
Enter pickup and delivery locations on the map
Provide parcel details (size, weight, description)
Enter recipient information (name and contact number)
Select delivery type (standard or express)
Choose payment method (sender or receiver pays)
Review and accept the fare estimate
Complete payment if you're paying as the sender

Once booked, you'll be matched with an available driver who will accept your delivery request.

Delivery fares are calculated based on several factors:

Distance: Between pickup and delivery locations
Parcel Size: Small, Medium, or Large categories
Delivery Type: Standard or express delivery
Time of Day: Peak hours may have different rates

Important Note:

You'll see the exact fare estimate before confirming your booking. Once accepted, this fare is binding and includes all applicable taxes and fees.

Payment Options: You can choose to pay as the sender at booking time, or have the recipient pay upon delivery.

Cancellation Policy

You CAN cancel:

Before a driver accepts your delivery request
If no payment has been made yet

You CANNOT cancel:

After a driver has accepted your request
After payment has been completed

Important: Once payment is made, cancellation is NOT permitted. Please review your booking carefully before completing payment.

Prohibited Items

Shipping prohibited items violates our Terms and Conditions and may result in account suspension.

You may NOT ship the following through Chap Drop:

Items prohibited under Tanzanian law
Illegal substances or contraband
Weapons, explosives, or ammunition
Hazardous or flammable materials
Perishable items without proper packaging
Live animals
Items intended for illegal purposes
Cash or monetary instruments over regulated limits

Note: Drivers have the right to refuse pickup of any parcel they suspect contains prohibited items.

You can track your delivery in real-time through the Chap Drop app:

For Drivers (Delivery Partners)

To register as a Chap Drop driver, you must meet these requirements:

Be at least 18 years old
Hold a valid Tanzanian driving license
Own or legally lease a suitable vehicle (bodaboda)
Provide valid National Identification (NIDA) for yourself and next of kin
Submit a local government recognition letter
Have valid third-party motor insurance
Vehicle must be roadworthy and properly maintained
Complete Chap Drop's verification and training process

Application Process:

All driver applications are subject to manual review and approval by Chap Drop administrators. Providing false information will result in immediate rejection.

Earnings Structure

Drivers earn 85% of each delivery fare, with 15% going to Chap Drop as platform commission.

Your earnings depend on:

Number of deliveries completed
Distance of each delivery
Parcel size and type
Delivery time (peak hours may have higher fares)
Your availability and acceptance rate

The app provides real-time earnings calculation and detailed transaction history. You can see your estimated earnings before accepting each delivery request.

Driver payments are processed according to our payment schedule:

Earnings are accumulated in your Chap Drop wallet
Payments are disbursed to your registered mobile wallet
You can view daily, weekly, and monthly earnings summaries
Detailed transaction history is available in the app

Payment Schedule:

Payments are typically processed on a regular schedule (e.g., daily or weekly). Specific payment timelines will be communicated through the app and are subject to our payment terms.

Joint Delivery is a feature that allows drivers to accept additional pickup opportunities while completing their current delivery:

Additional pickups within 5km radius of your current route
Maximum of 2 additional pickups per trip
Platform provides optimized multi-stop navigation
Each parcel requires separate confirmation
Additional earnings for each extra delivery

Benefits:

This feature helps maximize your earnings by allowing you to complete multiple deliveries in a single trip, reducing empty return trips and increasing efficiency.

Yes, as an independent contractor, you have full control over which delivery requests to accept:

You can decline any delivery request before accepting it
You'll see pickup location, delivery location, parcel details, and estimated earnings before accepting
You control your availability through the online/offline toggle

Important:

Once you accept a delivery request, you are obligated to complete it unless exceptional circumstances prevent you from doing so. Excessive cancellations after acceptance may affect your account status.

Safety & Security

Important Notice:

Chap Drop does NOT provide insurance coverage for parcels.

As stated in our Terms and Conditions:

Chap Drop is a technology platform, not a carrier
Primary responsibility for parcels rests with the driver as an independent contractor
Clients are strongly advised to obtain their own insurance for high-value items
Parcel value declaration does NOT constitute insurance coverage

Driver Insurance Requirements:

All Chap Drop drivers are required to maintain at least third-party motor insurance. Some drivers may also have goods-in-transit insurance, but this is not guaranteed or verified by Chap Drop for every delivery.

Chap Drop implements a comprehensive driver verification process:

Identity Verification: Valid National Identification (NIDA) for driver and next of kin
License Verification: Valid Tanzanian driving license check
Vehicle Verification: Ownership/lease documents and roadworthiness
Local Government Recognition: Letter from local authorities
Insurance Verification: Valid third-party motor insurance
Manual Review: All applications reviewed by Chap Drop administrators
Periodic Re-verification: Ongoing checks of documentation validity

Despite these measures, drivers remain independent contractors, not employees of Chap Drop.

Liability Notice:

According to our Terms and Conditions, Chap Drop is NOT liable for parcel loss, theft, misplacement, or damage during transit.

If your parcel is lost or damaged:

Report the issue immediately through the in-app issue reporting functionality
Chap Drop will collect evidence from both parties (tracking data, photos, etc.)
The matter will be reviewed by Chap Drop administrators
If the loss/damage is determined to be the driver's responsibility, you may need to pursue compensation directly from the driver
Chap Drop will cooperate with investigations and provide available evidence

Important:

Chap Drop's liability is strictly limited. We strongly recommend obtaining your own insurance for valuable items and properly packaging fragile items.

Chap Drop uses industry-standard security measures to protect payment information:

Secure Payment Gateway: Payments processed through Selcom, a reputable payment processor
Encryption: All payment transactions are encrypted
No Card Storage: We do not store credit/debit card information
Mobile Money Integration: Secure integration with Tanzanian mobile money providers
PCI Compliance: Our payment processing follows security standards

Additional Security:

All transactions generate electronic receipts compliant with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) requirements, providing an audit trail for all payments.

Chap Drop follows guidelines from Tanzanian health authorities:

App notifications about health and safety guidelines
Flexible cancellation policies during government-mandated restrictions
Regular updates based on official health authority recommendations
